After painting still life’s in my painting class, my professor gave my class an assignment to study an artist that we found interesting and to recreate one of their paintings as a practice. I choose to do Cake Rows by Wayne Thiebaud. I really liked the pop art look in his painting, the bold colors, and the contrast. I saw similar qualities of my paintings in his and decided I wanted to replicate one of his paintings. This project was extremely challenging for me, and he has so many hidden layers of color in his work! I also built the canvas myself!
